Hi Jim,
I enjoy your newsletter each week. It is typically the last thing I read before I go home on Thursday evening.
I keep seeing your reference to visiting mills at the end of your column. Anytime you are in the Kansas area, I would be honored to show you around the only paper mill in Kansas. My (well, Sonoco's since they wrote the check) mill is just over 100 years old and still doing well, having reinvented ourselves several times. We somehow manage to find niche business to keep our invoice printer spinning. That said, we won't be the most impressive operation you have visited, but not the worst either.
Roy's Barbeque has some of the best BBQ anywhere, so even if the mill tour isn't all that special, the BBQ will be.

Jim, I hope to be there within the next six months.

Jim:
You're invited to stop by either our Greenville (SC) or Monroe (LA) offices anytime you’re traveling in the areas. (Houston or Baton Rouge too, but we don't do any pulp & paper business there). We'll buy you lunch and share with you to the extent we can what we’re doing in the pulp & paper industry today as well as our other ventures. We’re privately held and not flashy, but we’re certainly involved in the forefront of technology developments that can and should have an impact on the paper industry.
Our largest growth area of business today is biomass related. Biomass to energy. Biomass to biofuels. Biomass to chemicals. Biomass to oils. We've amassed some of the leading technical experts in the biomass arena today and are working directly with more than a dozen technology startups, so we've been involved in many different technology platforms.
Anyway, let me know when you're traveling our way and we would enjoy meeting (and I'll buy lunch).

Michael, I'll take you up on that.
