Ostensibly the credit was for replacing fossil fuels. The whole debacle could be solved by requiring entities to PROVE that they have displaced fossil fuels with biofuels. i.e. in order to qualify for the credit, you must prove that you have actually been using a fossil fuel - how many pulpmills would run more than 50% fossil fuel in their recovery boilers for oh say 3-6 months? The GM bailout was peanuts compared to this rot." "Companies are taking an unfair advantage over their competition who do not qualify for the tax credit. In my mind that is cheating. This issue should be corrected to allow everyone a level playing field. Then we will see who is really sustainable and left standing." "It was a boondoggle from the start. Regardless, the smart person who found this loop hole should have been given a million dollar bonus but I expect all she got was a cup of coffee if that!"
