In my column last week, we asked, "When do you think was the modern golden age of paper industry innovation?"
45.5 percent of those who responded answered that it was the 1960s, followed by the 1970s (27.3 percent), 1980s (18.2 percent) and the 1990s (9.1 percent). No one answered the 1940s, 1950s, 2000s or the 2010s, though one person didn't answer the question at all.
Then, we asked, "Do you think the pulp and paper industry is currently in a period of innovation doldrums?"
63.3 percent though it isto a "Large extent," 27.3 percent said it is to a "Great extent," and 9.1 thought it is to a "Moderate extent." No one answered "Slight extent," or "Not at all."
