RIEGELWOOD, North Carolina (From WECT News) -- Three people were injured and taken to the hospital after an accident at International Paper's Riegelwood mill Wednesday morning.

According to Kim Clewis, communications manager for International Paper, a contracted employee injured his leg during the installation of some equipment at the mill. Two International Paper employees also sustained injuries responding to the accident.

All three were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway.

"The health and safety of our employees, contractors, and community are [our] top priorities," Clewis explained in a statement.
