In my column last week, we asked, "Were you ever in a situation where everyone seemed to be against you?"
Two thirds responded "Yes," and the rest said "No."
We then asked, "If you answered yes to the first question, what did you do about it?"
Replies: I kept my shoulder to the tiller and the ship on my course. I worked with my mentor to set a path and then I followed that path, checking in frequently.
After that, we asked, "Were you ever in a position where the new boss wanted to change many things?"
All respondents replied "Yes," and then we asked "If you answered yes to the last question, how did you react?"
Responses were: Listen, asked questions for clarification, ask to learned the outcome the boss desired, implement change, documented results. I presented to him the errors in his judgment. If/when this failed, I found greener pastures. I saw the changes were for the best and fit well with my ideas. We worked together to implement these needed changes.
